SALIMYCIN

COMPOSITION:

Salinomycin was approved for chickens in 1983. It is a sodium salt of a polyether monocarboxylic acid produced by Actinomycetes sps. Salinomycin sodium is feed additive. It is used in the prevention of coccidiosis in poultry caused by E.coli and salmonella.enterica. Salinomycin is active against certain Gram-positive bacteria, whereas Enterobacteriaceae are resistant. In addition, it is known that salinomycin has an inhibitory effect on Clostridium perfringens, therefore the use of salinomycin leads to a decrease in the incidence of necrotic enteritis in broiler chickens. Salinomycin is absorbed to a certain extent in the chicken and extensively metabolized although the concentration present in the edible tissues of the animals are very low and scarcely detectable. Salinomycin is considered as the marker residue and skin/fat as the target tissue. Salinomycin produces relatively low residue levels in the eggs compared with other polyether ionophores. chickens. Groups of animals:

Chicken (chicken broilers).Indications for use: prevention and treatment of E. coli, salmonella sps and staphylococcus sps in chicken broilers

Contraindications:

Do not use simultaneously with tiamulin and other coccidiostatics! Do not use for breeding poultry, turkeys, ducks, horses and other solid-hoofed animals, ruminants! Do not use for laying hens! Special precautions for application: Do not leave or dispose of food with the product (salinomycin) in places available for farm or wildlife animals. Interaction with other products or other forms of interaction: Do not use simultaneously with tiamulin and other coccidiostatics!

Period of withdrawal:

slaughter of broiler chickens for meat is allowed 5 days after the last application of the product. Meat of poultry slaughtered in compliance with the specified period can be used as feed for carnivorous animals or for the production of meat-bone meal, depending on the conclusion of a veterinarian.
